Meet the Founder
I'm James Norvell, founder and creator of Doggy Style Society and GoNorv Companies.
It's my pleasure to bring you a line of activewear and everyday wear that doesn't just give you style — it gives your pet style too, walking out the door with you every day. It's unique, it's a statement, and it's not for everybody. But everybody's going to want to be part of the Doggy Style Society.
The name actually comes from a Frenchie.
In my darkest moments — yes, I've struggled with addiction in my past — this whole idea was conceived in detox, when my mind finally came back to me. I was in a very dark place, and somebody gave me a Frenchie puppy. Her name was Coco Chanel. On some of my worst days, that dog made it a great day. She was tiny, so she didn't like not being able to see out the car window — she'd climb up on my shoulder and ride there instead. I had a whole wardrobe for her, and even though I'm a guy, people just kept giving me little outfits for her, and she loved every bit of the attention. If I was just unlocking the front door, I'd hear her running as fast as she could, tongue hanging out the side, so happy to see me she couldn't hold it in.
Somebody stole her. I don't know where she is. I hope she's safe and loved — but she's the reason Doggy Style Society exists.
Nobody has a line quite like this, and I think there's a real need for it. Anyone who's had a dog or a pet knows how we feel about them — they're part of us. We're one. Including them as part of your everyday style just makes sense. I hope you have fun with it, and I hope you look good in it. I sourced premium materials and put my own style into every piece.
I also decided to recreate myself.
I wasn't happy. I want this brand to be a beacon for anyone struggling with addiction, depression, mental illness, or homelessness — please know you are not forgotten, and you are loved. Someone once told me: if you're not happy, change everything. I was in an industry I didn't like, and I felt boxed in. In a detox facility, I decided I was going to recreate James — build the person I'd be proud of at five years old. I got out of that industry and started building companies out of nothing but my own mind. We're made to create. If you think you can't, that belief is the box you're in. The only thing you have to change is your outlook.
I immediately decided to build companies that make people's lives easier and more comfortable — built by listening to the people around me and filling real needs.
As Doggy Style Society and GoNorv grow, I have a bigger mission: programs for people who feel forgotten — the homeless, orphans, people coming out of prison, people in recovery. If you've got ideas, come talk to us. I want to build places where people can learn real life skills — how to make money, how to manage life, how to think big. A percentage of everything made through Doggy Style Society and GoNorv Companies goes to local dog shelters and to organizations helping the homeless and those struggling with addiction.
I hold this close to my heart, because I've lived it. I know how low you can go. I know what it costs to lose it all — because I've lost it all before. All is not lost. There is help.
